It’s a Mod Mod Mod Mod World

I love Mod and retro everything! Love it! Caftans, white boots, Vespas, the Who etc. However, all the hipster Trendy Midtown kids seem to feel the same way. They have their cruisers and vintage mini dresses. All the men’s suit jackets have that classic 60’s collar.

Without further ado, some crazy Mod Linkage!

I found this link from Retro To Go, and fell in love with this online shop! I Love Waterloo has such great retro styling! My favorite is the Pete Retro Bag.

I want a Vespa more than anything! Better mileage, cute as sin, and oh so convenient! But what’s this? An Electric Vespa? How about this electric moped? I gather you can even ride these bad boys on the sidewalk legally. Can’t afford a full sized one? Try this one *giggle*

My all time favorite Sublime Stitching pattern, Scooter Babe.
Get your crazy funky mini dresses here at Atom Retro

I randomly found Red Dress Shoppe one day and fell in love! Cute vintage styling and super affordable! I’m eying the Carnaby dress and the Twiggy Dress. So if you buy the last large, I’ll be sad.

And while I’m on the subject, I just want to say finding vintage for a tall bigger boned girl is VERY hard! Well, until I found Penelopepup Vintage.

And for the perfect shoes, Jeffrey Campbell has great styling! You can get some at Nordstroms or Modcloth

Toodles!

Colbert Crafts!

Dear Stephen Colbert,

I have been mad at you. Disappointed at the least. I mean how can you not do the voice of Professor Impossible?!? I love The Venture Brothers, and I loved YOU in the Venture Brothers, but you decided not to do the third season (click here for source). Then I find out you couldn’t even put your voice to the Harvey Birdman video game! What would that have taken you, a day? I mean, what were you doing when you were off the air because of the writer’s strike? Weren’t you bored? You have fans, you know, who adore you for more than just the Colbert Report.

But you have redeemed yourself. I love you once again. Because last night I’m watching The Colbert Report, and there you are crafting on National TV! My favorite is Clambo.

Thank you Stephen *Sigh*

Sending much affection your crafting way,

ps. If you love Clambo as much as I do, Check out this Googily Eyed Clam tutorial from Colbert Nation

Muppetational

So, lately I’ve been watching the Muppet Show season 1. It Brings backs o many memories. I mean, puppets are really neat. there’s this option on the DVD to watch fun muppet facts while you watch the show. It’s really quite cool. Did you know the first Kermit the Frog was made out of a jacket by Jim Hensen’s mom? Also, Jim Hensen took a trip to Europe, which showed him that puppetry can really appeal to adults as well as children. Thus the Muppet Show was born.

Now, I know I share the love of Muppets with many of you. My boyfriend, Todd, just loves the Swedish Chef. Every time he watches him “cook” he gets this little kid smile of face and just giggles. As I watching the show, I myself found myself just smiling. The Muppets makes so many people happy! Puppetry really is an artform.

(I’ll bring it around to sewing, just give me a minute)

Well, I started talking to my friend Omie about the Muppets, and he showed me Project Puppet . How great would it be to make a puppet? I Just love their gallery! Apparently there’s foam carving and dying involved which just seems fascinating! I wonder if it’s like carving Ivory soap, like I did back in Girl Scouts? In any event, you can get a pattern kit for 3 puppets for only $149.00! It seems incredible affordable considering what you get. The foam itself is about $30 a sheet. Two sheets are included in the kit. Want a more affordable puppet? Try their Glorified Sock Pattern (think Kermit). The instuctions are only $19.99. Get that pattern here .

I Found this video on YouTube of puppet making.

Part 1

Part 2

And if foam carving seems a little too daunting, maybe you can still puppet with Shadow Puppets. MAKE: Magazine has instructions you can download here.Mine favorite Muppets are Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem! They crack me up! When I was younger, they did nothing for me, but now I get it! So who are your Favorite Muppets?

I hope you all give puppet making a try! Let me know how it turns out.Happy Puppeteering!

Just a fun fact about me…

I very much dislike ironing.

I spent 5 hours ironing last night for a Christmas gift, and I’m still not done *sigh*

Chris Howard Weekend

I’m leaving tonight for my weekend-long Chris Howard seminar. So you know where I am…

On another exciting note, I bought the Stephen Colbert book to listen to on the drive down. Expect a review when I get back.

Well, I’m off to realize my dreams! Have a great weekend!

Oh Mandy…

I told myself,”No more projects until you get the blog design up and running.”
However, here I am, on a wednesday night, watching season 1 of Dead Like Me. Now normally, one episode would be enough and I would go on with my pre-planned blog design plans for the evenings. But as I’m watching, I find myself watching Inigo Montoya himself…staring at me smack in the face! I watch as he trains a new grim reaper and see that signature grin of his and all I hear is,”My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

To fully understand where I’m coming from, I should fill you in. I *LOVE* The Princess Bride. Not just *LOVE*, but adore, admire, kiss the pages it was written on. If you have never read the book or seen the movie you need to! I, myself, try to read the bookonce a year. The pages on mine are beginning to get tattered, and taken on the distinct musk of library bookshelves.

So seeing Mandy Patinkin, twenty years older, wiser, and still as swashbuckling, melts my heart.

Long story short, no projects got done tonight *sigh*
